Day 2: Barcelona – Sagrada Familia

Hello everyone! Today I experienced one of the most architecturally stunning buildings in the world, the Sagrada Familia Basillica.

The Basillica is one of the most famous buildings designed by the famous architect Gaudi (who was one of 9 architects within this project). His designs can be found all over Spain, especially in Barcelona in areas such as Park Güell, the Gothic Quarter and of course the Sagrada Familia itself. The building is still currently under construction and has been for 130 years so far with the goal to be finished in 10 years. The architect, Gaudi, died in 1926 and 100 years later the Basillica will be finished in 2026.

Despite the area around the Basillica being a building site, it is still a spectacular construction.

Me and my mum decided to get a guided tour of the building where we learned loads about the history, architectural techniques and the symbolism/meanings behind the interior and exterior of the building.

The Sagrada Familia is an absolutely breathtaking structure and I’d highly recommend a visit. This is definitely one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. The images below are just a few I got from today, but the photographs don’t capture the true beauty of the Sagrada Familia.

Hope you all enjoyed this post! I’ll keep you all updated with the rest of my trip.

Have you ever visited Sagrada Familia Basillica?

Love, Eilidhrose x
